Educational Background

Why did you join NHC?
I wanted to work toward eliminating the barriers that prevent vulnerable populations from accessing their rights to proper health services, while gaining real world experience navigating health systems. I knew NHC would allow me to work directly with patients and help empower them to receive the treatment they need.

What are your plans after NHC?
I hope to attend medical school! I aim to focus my medical career on health access to underserved communities.

What sparked your interest in community service?
Throughout my undergraduate years, I learned about the injustices surrounding poverty and socioeconomic disparities, and the ways we can contribute to improving our society by being mindful and giving back. As part of a summer program in NYC, I learned about the social determinants of health in the city and helped put on nutrition presentations and health fairs in north Brooklyn. I participated in several organizations on campus that give back to the community, including College Mentors for Kids, Human Ecology ambassadors, and Food Recovery Network. Serving communities is how I intend to spend my time throughout my life, both within and outside my career.

What excites you the most about serving in Philadelphia?
After being away at college for four years, I am excited to be back in the area! Philadelphia has so many wonderful public health opportunities and volunteer organizations, and I want to learn all about them. There is still so much left for me to explore in this city.

What is your favorite food?
